Carrie Tellefson joined Miller, Malone & Tellefson in 2005 after spending fourteen years in state government, serving several state agencies in lobbying, legal, and executive capacities. Carrie worked as Senior Counsel to the Washington State House of Representatives, Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, providing legal and policy analysis on insurance and banking issues, drafting bills and amendments, and assisting legislators in meeting their policy goals. Carrie also served as Deputy Commissioner for Legislative Affairs under Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler, managing the Commissioner's legislative agenda, including lobbying on Commissioner-request legislation, negotiating with stakeholder groups, and participating in the development of policy. She served as Government Relations Director as well as Assistant Director for External Relations & Management Services with the Department of Information Services, working with state and federal lawmakers on technology, telecommunications, and cyber-security issues and overseeing the agency's internal operations. Carrie also served in several roles with the Washington State Gambling Commission, finally as Director of Policy, Planning, and Support, serving as the agency's legislative director and lobbyist, negotiating tribal-state gambling compacts, representing the agency in the negotiated rule-making process, and presenting proposed rules to the Commission during its monthly meetings.

Throughout her career, Carrie has developed a reputation of credibility, trust, and responsiveness in the legislative arena. She is well known for her ability to work cooperatively with policy makers and stakeholders to find equitable solutions. She has a diverse and balanced skill set and is well-versed at providing strategic policy advice as well as nuts-and-bolts bill drafting and legal analysis.

A native of Eastern Washington (Carrie was born in Chelan), Carrie received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University and her law degree from the Seattle University School of Law (formerly University of Puget Sound School of Law).
